Since announcing I was pregnant with Baby #2, I have been breaking out a lot of my top pregnancy essentials. When I was pregnant with Julian, a lot of these items really helped. I have also added in some new things I have been using and will use this time. I’ll also add to the list as my pregnancy progresses and I find more must have items!

My Favorite Pregnancy Products

I love the prenatal vitamins from Olly and the Garden of Life brands. The Olly ones taste so good (seriously like candy) and between the two I know I am getting everything I need in my pregnancy. Amazon also has a great pregnancy pillow that is a serious life saver throughout the entire pregnancy. Th

The secret is out! Michael and I are expecting our second baby! We are so thrilled to add another member to our family, and Julian is so excited to have a younger sibling. We can not wait to watch them grow together and create memories as a family of four! We are due in March 2021 and cannot believe we will soon be parents of TWO! We couldn’t be more excited and love this baby so much already. Here are some of our favorite photos from our announcement shoot with Emily Jane.

All photos are by Emily Jane Furney

Fall decor is always so beautiful. I feel like by the end of August, I am really itching to get the fall decor out! Here in Nashville, the temps are still pretty high for a while, but it is just so fun to see a new season coming. Fall is a great way to get some fresh pieces and colors for my home. I found a lot of things from Target (of course) and also H&M so they are all at amazing price points too! We also recently went to the farmers market here and got some cute pumpkins for our porch as well as some mums! The pumpkins were adorable because they were all pastel colors. We decorated our porch with them as soon as we got home! Julian thought the pumpkins were pretty cool too!

Our home tour continues with an inside look at our living room design! This space we knew we wanted to make really open and bright with natural accents. Since you spend a majority of time in the living room/kitchen area we wanted this space to be perfect! We love how it turned out. The neutral colors with hints of black and green really make the space super inviting. Keep reading to see some of my favorite pieces!

The living room definitely has modern design features but pieces like the chairs, the woven coffee table, and accents, really make it feel warm and inviting. The chairs are absolutely amazing, very cozy but still look modern. They are from Nickey Kehoe but I found a similar version from Target, linked here. The couch, is so comfortable and we love the accent pillows that Clare (our designer) chose for the space. Another item we loved for this room is our Samsung Frame TV. These are really an awesome TV as you can customize the border of the TV (we chose the light wood) and then when you’re not using the TV you can pick any art to display on the screen so that it isn’t an eye sore in the room. We are so happy that we got one.

The Details…

The accent pieces for the living room are so fun. The lamps are a unique feature that are on the modern side, as well as these amazing credenzas on either side of our fireplace. The clean, sleek look of everything came together so nicely. Another fun piece is our collection of polaroids. These are all cute pictures of our family when we moved in to the house so we love having these memories on display.

Thanks for reading about our living room tour! We hope you liked it. And as always a big thanks to Clare Kennedy and her team for their amazing work!

We moved to Nashville a little over a year ago, but we recently finished decorating the house with our interior designer, Clare Kennedy. Our kitchen is one of our most used spaces and we love the way it turned out. It is very bright, light, and fresh and we love the woven textures throughout the kitchen design. One of our favorite features are our hanging light fixtures. They bring such a warm feel to the space. We hope you enjoy this home kitchen tour! All the items linked are either the exact item or a close match!

The barstools are from Studio McGee and I really like the look of them. They are a mix between modern and natural that balances out well. The countertops were so fun to design as well. Most of those countertop pieces are from Target or Amazon. For decor, I love the look of a wooden cutting board as an accent piece as well as decorative bowls with bright fruits to liven up a space. We also used our open shelving to add to the design as well. I added a sea glass colored vase, a cute pitcher and some wooden beads as well as our cookbooks. By our sink we created a little area for some of our more practical kitchen items like a pretty soap dispenser, paper towel dispenser, a candle, our counter spray that smells absolutely amazing (linked here) and a faux plant. The touches of greenery around the kitchen add a nice pop of color to the very neutral space.

Our Coffee Station

We use our coffee maker everyday! This Nespresso machine is so good and it makes the best drinks. We thought it would be a nice detail to put a little coffee station next to the coffee machine. It is also perfect for when company comes over. The stoneware mugs are from Target and I love the natural look of them. The creamer is from Amazon and is also in the same stoneware style. I found these cute glass canisters from Target and they have them in several different sizes. You could really store anything in them in the kitchen or even bathroom.

Our Dining Room

I really love how our dining room turned out. With the rest of the house decor being pretty light and airy, I love the darker wood touches and added black in the accent pieces here. Everything was sourced and designed by our interior designer Clare. The chairs I really love with the cane details and black accents and they look beautiful with the table. The light fixture is from Nickey Kehoe and is a really unique piece and focal point for the room. I will link a similar light option here! Below the table we have a really neutral rug called the Alterno Rug, that keeps things muted and lets the decor speak for itself. The art on the back wall is really unique and I really liked how it was abstract and just flows with the whole room. The artist is Kader Boly and you can find the exact piece here, but here is some more neutral abstract art.

It’s In the Details…

Bonus: Bedroom Hallway

We love how this hallway turned out. We lined it with a gallery wall on both sides and put all of our favorite pictures in them. These frames are really big and fill up the walls so well. To achieve the same look, try these frames from Pottery Barn!

I hope you enjoyed this tour through our kitchen! This is one of our favorite rooms and we really love the way everything turned out, thanks to Clare Kennedy!

What is the Shacket fall trend? Well- it is a shirt and a jacket combined! It is really the perfect weight especially with the weather cooling down. These pieces are usually a thicker version of a button down shirt. I love how these pieces can be styled so many different ways. Below, I styled them dressed up with a dress and heels, with shorts, and also with jeans. As you can see there are so many cute ways to wear this style. I can’t wait to continue to style this piece with warmer items for fall. It would be so cute to style it with jeans and some knee-high boots! Here are some of my favorite shackets.

Some of My Favorite Shackets Right Now

This past week, we were at home in Michigan. It was so nice to see our families and slow down a little bit. The weather was SO nice (fall was definitely in the air) but still warm and sunny. We did a lot of outdoor activities like the sunflower farm, went and saw some horses, lots of walks, and the apple orchard. It was so fun to take Julian to all these places with my family, he really loved it. So after apple picking, we decided to make an apple pie! Here is the recipe we followed for this super tasty pie!

Here is What you Need for Apple Pie

Crust

Make or buy a premade pie crust

Topping
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter
Filling
  • 8 Granny Smith apples (or another apple of your choice)
  • 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon rind (optional)
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

The How To’s

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Topping:
  • Combine all topping ingredients in a bowl and mix with a fork until they are well mixed and crumbly.
Filling:
  • Peel, core, and then slice all the apples into thin slices (about 1/8 inch). Mix in the apple slices with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour.
  • Layer apple slices in pie crust (it will be really full) and pour any leftover juice over the apples.
  • Then you will top apple slices with your crumble topping and pat it down over the apples so it is well covered.
  • Place pie pan on a cookie sheet so the juice doesn’t drip into your oven.
  • Bake at 450 for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake another 45-55 minutes. (Carefully feel the center of the pie to make sure the apples are soft all of the way through your pie).
  • Serve warm with some vanilla ice cream!

QUICK TIP

Be sure to keep an eye on your crumble topping. Add foil over top to make sure it doesn’t burn.

And then you are done! We hope you enjoy your pie as much as we did!

We recently went to Florida for a week-long vacation. It was so nice to get away for a while to just relax, hang at the pool, and reset! We flew down to Florida and stayed in Orlando at the Four Seasons there. It was so nice to get a change of scenery and the resort was beautiful. We loved sitting by the pool, playing in the water, and dining at their amazing restaurants.

Where we stayed

We stayed at the Four Seasons Orlando and it was incredible! They were taking so many safety precautions and the resort was pretty empty so it was really nice. We especially loved the pool- so did Julian! They had so many fun water toys, splash pads, and a lazy river- which we enjoyed too! We would definitely recommend staying here. It is also really close to Disney. We didn’t go to the parks this trip, but we did eat dinner there and also went to a character breakfast! Julian really liked seeing all the characters, but unfortunately they can’t touch or take photos with you, which was a bummer! It was still really fun to be in the Disney atmosphere, but hopefully sometime soon things will be more back to normal there!

Some of the Restaurants on Property

  • Capa
  • Ravello
  • Plancha

These restaurants were very good! We loved the Italian at Ravello and had some amazing meals there. Plus there were other spots to grab a quick bite to eat or a coffee!

Our First Vlog

Other Activities

Most of our time was spent sitting by the pool each day so it was pretty hard to leave that set-up to do anything else! But some other days we also took a walk around Disney Springs. It was crazy to see it so empty- but they were being so safe with everything. The weather was beautiful so we really enjoyed walking around and shopping here. We also went into the Disney store and Julian got some Finding Nemo/Dory stuffed animals, which he loved. Overall, it was such a fun trip to have quality time as a family and just relax!
